This stunning Art Nouveau peacock plate was hand-painted and signed by Edward Challinor. The bird is surveying the area from a perch overlooking an impressionistic scene. The gold border has a floral design.
The logo on the back was used from 1857 to 1920 by the JHR Hutschenreuther company of Selb, Bavaria. The gold seal is from the Pickard Studio. It states Pickard Etched China and this logo was used in 1912. Pickard is considered prestigious. It supplied the china for the U.S. embassies worldwide from the turn of the century to Obama's time in office.
